Does BrightRidge furnish meter bases?

No. BrightRidge no longer furnishes meter bases. BrightRidge will furnish eye bolts at no charge that may be picked up in the BrightRidge Engineering Department Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

What type of meter base do I need?

BrightRidge only uses plug-in type meter bases for residential and commercial services 400 amp and less. Any electrical service that exceeds 400 amp will be CT (current transformer) metered.

Can I place the meter base directly onto a mobile home?

Yes, in Washington County as long as the mobile home diagram is followed. Please see the overhead single or doublewide manufactured home diagram in the Electrician’s Corner Section. For other counties or cities served by BrightRidge, please contact the appropriate state electrical inspector.

Do I have to install the ground wire all the way up and out of the weather head?

No, in Washington County. A ground wire does not need to be extended to the weather head. The ground wire needs to be attached between the meter base and an 8-foot ground rod. For other counties or cities served by BrightRidge, please contact the appropriate state electrical inspector.

What height should my meter base be?

Residential and commercial meter bases shall be 5 ½ feet above finished grade to the center of the meter base. Sign and landscaping meter bases shall be a minimum of 4 feet to the top of the meter base.
